Marshall Island Apostille

Marshall Island has agreed through Accession to follow the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents and will accept the Apostille for the Legalization of documents going to Marshall Island from other contracting states since 14 August 1992. Many other countries have also signed the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents agreement making it easier to have any of your United States of America (USA) documents or affidavits such as: Birth Certificate, Marriage License/Certificate, Birth Certificate, Corporate Record, Death Certificate, Court Affidavits, Educational Document, Diploma, Degree, Transcript, Power of Attorney, Last Will & Testament, Notarized document or any type of document created in the USA Apostilled for use in Marshall Island.

The purpose of the Apostille is to certify the authenticity of the signature on the document; the capacity in which the individual signing the document acted; and the identity of any seal or stamp affixed to the document. The Apostille has nothing to do with verifying that the document is an original or real.

The apostille process consist of the following steps depending on the type of document receving the Apostille and the state from which the document is from:

Please note: The steps outlined below are the steps typically followed to get an apostille. Each US state & each document has their own procedure & some steps may not be required. Some states require any document written in a foreign language to be translated & the translated version will be apostilled. In all cases, If your document is notarized, the Notarial wording (see below) must be in English. Notary & Apostille Service can save you time & money by hand delivering or sending your document to the correct governmental agency. All you need to do is to send us your document, pay the service fee & we'll handle the difficulty part of knowing the correct procedure to follow.

The Notarial Wording

If your document is notarized, the Notarial wording is a very important part of your document, Do not allow the notary public to just sign their signature, date it and place their notary stamp on the document. This is very wrong & there is a good chance your document will be rejected because it does not meet the minimum requirements of a properly notarized document. The notary public must also sign their signature by hand in ink, exactly their name is indicated on the notary’s commission card.

If you are ever subjected to a legal action, your case could be lost because of a improperly notarize document. A notary public who engages in sloppy notary work can subject themselves to potential disciplinary action and other liability

Sample Notarial Wording

If your document is getting notarize you must have one of the below statements, or something that looks very similar. If this notarial wording is not on your document YOU must tell the notary which one you need. By law, a notary is not allow to tell you which one to use. The notary can explain the difference between the two but it up to YOU to choose which one to need. If you have no room the document the notarial wording can be added on the signature page, otherwise a loose certificate can be attached to the original document
