If you have a New York City Death Certificate<\/strong> or a New York State Death Certificate<\/strong> & you are trying to get an New York State Secretary of State Apostille<\/strong> on your Death Certificate and everyone is telling you, that you need the Letter of Exemplification to get an Apostille; don\u2019t worry because Notary & Apostille Service<\/a> can get an Apostille on your Death Certificate without the Letter of Exemplification.<\/p>\n

What is the\u00a0Letter of Exemplification<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Letter of Exemplification <\/strong>is\u00a0actually the short name of this document, however, the real title of the document is called The \u201cLetter of Exemplification of Birth or Death Record<\/em><\/strong>\u201d. It will only be sent via the mail. It is not required if a birth or death record is issued outside of New York City (i.e., Long Island, Westchester, etc.)<\/p>\n

Then why is it that everyone is telling me that I need a long form Death Certificate and this Letter of Exemplification<\/strong>? Many Apostille services tell you this because this is what the Office of the New York State Secretary of State is telling everyone and this is what The Manhattan County Clerks Office is telling everyone who comes in without the Letter of Exemplification<\/strong>. I not saying that they are incorrect, I’m just saying in New York City, that is the normal procedure to follow.<\/p>\n
