Who said being a notary was a boring job?
Being a notary has taken me to some really fancy, fabulous & unusual locations.

If you re a notary I’m sure you’ve been to some exotic, fancy or unusual place too. I’ve gone to million dollars homes, a TV personality home/office, lawyers office, a SOHO artist showroom/home gated home, bungalow and there were some homes that were no so nice.

There were also places that I would not have like to have gone such as to a hospital wards, & ICU; nursing home are ok, and so are the notary signing I’ve done on street of NYC, or at the Airport. Wendy’s remain high on my list for places to meet clients.

The latest I’ve been called out of the house was at midnight. I’ve even received inquires about 10pm and the earliest was at 6am. I had 2 emergency calls to leave my home to notarize a parental permission for their child to travel with someone else. Sometimes, I just have to turn off the ringer if I’m look’n for a good night sleep. Sometimes people will call at any hour of the night looking for a notary who will work for nothing..

The bottom line is; the clients were happy to see me & to be able to get their notary needs taken care of. I’m happy to be working & getting paid. My bill collectors are happy too.

Some notaries just don't take the time to learn their craft.

No I’m not talking about how they look or dress. I’m talking about quality or correctness of their work. I was just going to write about New York Notaries until I received a notarize paper that was stamped by a New Jersey Notary.
So I guess NY state is not alone.

I frequently have to hire a another notary to do work for me that is too far for me to travel or I receive work that a notary has stamped & sent to me for a client.

After observing the quality of work that I am presented with I’ve determined that many notaries need to read their notary manual or go back to school to learn how to do a proper notarization.

On many occasions the notary has only stamped & signed the affidavit. There is No Venue & Jurat, on one document their was no date. One notary stamp even had the incorrect county he was qualified in. I did not find this out until I went to the NYC County Clerk to certify his signature & they could not find his name in their records. A quick check of the Secretary of State database shows that he is qualified in Queens. NY notaries are qualified by where they live not by where they work.

Last week I was standing on line at my local county clerk’s office getting a notary’s signature certified and the county clerk turned away a young lady & told her, she could not accept sloppy notary work. I must have been one of those sign & stamp. Bravo!

Do you know what I’m writing about? They are among us.

Here is a list of thing the County Clerk will reject a Notary Certification for:

Missing Venue – the statement and county where the notary administered the oath or acknowledgment is not shown

Missing Jurat – the statement that the notary administered the oath or acknowledgment is not shown

The Notary Signature is missing

Signature of the notary on your document is different then the one on file

The Venue is not written in English

The Jurat is not written in English

What can I do to get more traffic? In three words Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
You need to hire an SEO company, so they can build back links to your website.
There are many companies that will PUT you on the first page of Google but as a sponsored link on top or on the right side. But by having back links you be in the organic section and you can stop paying for their service.

There are too many SEO companies to recommend, there are some that charge $100 – $1000 or more a month. So find out where you are in the ranking and track your progress each month. If should start seeing a move up within 3 months

Also, an SEO will look at your web page and make changes to your title tag line, which is very important. In addition, your keyword in your keyword tag must appear in the context of the body.

Some SEO’s will promise you they will write blog articles, social network articles for you however, in the two months that I worked with one SEO I never saw or found an article they wrote for me.

If you like to do your own SEO, you can use free software like Traffic Travis to find different info about your site, page rank, broken links, relevance, etc. So look for free SEO tools, that you can use.

You can also drive traffic to your site by Hosting your own blog, I use WordPress,
http://nynotaryforyou.com/wordpress/ many hosting site have a one click install so its pretty easy to install & setup.

Another way of driving traffic to your site is by Hosting your own forum. I use PHPbb, this is another one click program that many hosting sites have.

Last year I was going to setup Joomla and I was pretty discouraged by the learning curve in getting the databases set-up etc. Once I found out about these one click programs on my hosting site, I setup 3 new programs so far.

Bottom line read more about SEO work, tips, etc
Check me out on the first page of google, aol, bing search for ”apostille nyc”

A quick overview of what a notary public can do. The various job functions and what is required by some.

A Notary Public is a public officer that is commissioned by government authority. In New York Notary Public are appointed and commissioned by the Secretary of State for a term of 4 years. A Mobile Notary Public or a Traveling Notary is just a Notary who like a visiting doctor will travel to your home or place of business to take care of your notary needs.

Mobile notary public performs the same service as the notary you’ll find at your local bank or Kinko’s store. Mobile notaries can provide higher level of personalized services that you can’t get at your bank. For instance if you’re in a hospital or home bound and you need a Power of Attorney notarized or you need to make a selection on your pension notarized, a mobile notary public will be the person to call. Many bank or even the free notary at the town clerks office or City Hall will not notarize a document in a foreign language.

Not only do mobile/traveling notaries provide better personalized notary service, they are available during hours when most notary businesses are closed & gone for the day. Some mobile notaries work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are always available to service your notary needs.

Since the mobile notary is traveling to you, they will usually charge you an additional fee for traveling. The fee the notary will charge varies according to the notary service area. If the notary has to travel far the price will be higher than what they will be charged for someone who is close by. Some notaries will only work a fixed area such as Lower Manhattan, SOHO, NOHO, Battery Park or certain counties, like Kings, Queens, Nassau or Suffolk. Also, the notary may have special fee rates for going to a hospital, jail or airport. They may also have a special rate for traveling after a certain hour or late at night. There is no standard fee for traveling so one notary fee maybe higher than another notary.

A Notary can also perform special services called Apostille processing. An Apostille document is one that is prepared to conform to the standards of the Hague Convention. Documents prepared in this manner are acceptable for use in countries that are signatories of the 1961 Hague Convention.

If a country was not a signatory to the 1961 Hague Convention then the document will have to be taken to the consulate of the foreign country to certify it for use in their country.

Each state has there own set of rules or laws that a notary must follow. In some states a notary can marrying a couple. They could also sign a Will, and witness the signing of mortgages. Notaries who sign mortgages are called Notary Signing Agent.

A Notary Signing Agent is a Notary Public who specializes in signing various types of mortgage loans, such as Purchase, Refinance, Reverse Mortgage, Consolidation, Extension and Modification Agreement, CEMA. When a Notary passes a test demonstrating the knowledge of various papers that make up a mortgage loan, he is called a Certified Notary Signing Agent. Mortgage witness signing Notaries are also required to have a background check, some state require a background check as a requirement to become a notary.

In addition the state requirement for insurance some title companies, banks, etc require the notary to have Error and Omission Insurance. This insurance is to protect the notary public against any negligent and honest mistake up to the policy limit. This insurance is call Errors & Omission Insurance, (E & O insurance). Many title, escrow or lenders are now requiring notaries to have an error and omission policy of $100,00 to be an approved independent contractor. There is also an insurance called signing agent error and omission insurance policy. This insurance is for when the notary makes an error on part of a mortgage document that is not related to the notarial signing. Some states also require the notary to be Bonded. Most states require a Notary Bond to protect the public & State — not the Notary so the public can recover any damages for failure of the notary to discharge their duties notary, This Bond is also called Surety Insurance.

Notary Signing Agents get their work assignments from title companies, banks, escrow companies, loan modification companies and settlement companies. Many times there is a middle man between the bank & the notary. These Signing Companies get assignments from the sources mentioned above. Because they act as the employment agency assigning jobs to notaries who are registered with them. They also take part of the fee that the notary would have received had the notary received the assignment directly from the bank or source.

Mobile notaries are pretty easy to find. Just go to you favorite search engine and search for mobile/traveling notary & use your town, (e.g. long island mobile notary public ). Or you can search for the type of service you require, (e.g. traveling notary apostille copiague ny) you’ll find me there on page one or two of Google.

Can you make a living as a notary. Yes. But more on that in our next blog.

Some people’s first reaction is usually one of SKEPTICISM, I thought if was a scam too, but after a little research and looking at the positive & negative comments that I’ve read… this is what I found out about this company.
In other words… this is the real deal.

On October 5, 1961, many nations joined to create a simplified method of “legalizing” documents for universal recognition. This group of nations is known as the Hague Convention. They adopted a document referred to as an Apostille (apostilla) that is internationally recognized by all member nations.

Documents issued in one country which need to be used in another country must be “authenticated” or “legalized” before they can be recognized as valid in the foreign country. This is a process in which various seals are placed on the document.

The sole function of the apostille certification is to certify the authenticity of the signature on the document; the capacity in which the person signing the document acted; and the identity of any stamp or seal affixed to the document. An apostille stamp issued by the New York State Secretary of State is a one page document embossed with the Great Seal of the State of New York. The Apostille includes the facsimile signature of the individual issuing the certificate.

If the country where the document will be used is not a party to the Hague Convention, you will have to begin the cumbersome, time-consuming process of obtaining a series of certifications known as the “chain authentication method”. This is literally a paper chase in which authorities will have to attest to the validity of a succession of seals beginning with your document and ending with the seal of the foreign embassy or consulate in the United States.

Every US state has their own method of issuing an Apostille. They all begin with the notary stamp and the certification of that stamp by the proper authority.

At NYNOTARY4U we can handle getting your Apostille for from any state, provided it was been properly notarized by a notary appointed or commissioned in that state.
